World Cup: Asia

In Group A, Qatar took their last straw and upset with a win against South Korea. South Korea's biggest competitor, Uzbekistan, also lost in their match against already qualified Iran. South Korea and Uzbekistan play in the final match, which like becomes the decider.

In group B, both Japan and UAE drew, which means Japan have clinched at least playoff. UAE is now virtually elimited; they need to win their two remaining matches against Saudi Arabia and Iraq while either Saudi Arabia or Australia take no more points.

Japan have a tough schedule with first Australia and then Saudi. In the last match Iraq play Thailand at home, while Saudi play UAE in the second last match. Japan need to win one of those matches to finish top 2, though two draws might do it as well. For Saudi and Australia a win against Japan plus a draw would do it, but there are plenty of combinations.
