Solomon Islands needed a point in their last match against Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea needed to win by three goals and started promising with a goal by Gunemba in 18th minute. However, fifteen minutes later Solomon Islands were rewarded a penalty kick, which Fa'arado converted to a goal, and just before the half time tea, Donga killed the match with a second goal for Solomon Islands.
Solomon Islands will now play a final playoff for the Oceania region against New Zealand, where New Zealand are big favourites (93%). The winner in the double match will play fifth team from South America, which likely will be Chile.
